UGC Scholarship Direct to Student’s Bank Account from now

As per Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programme, all central scholarships from now will be transferred directly to student’s bank account without any mid source. Government made this statement on Tuesday 13th January 2015. This step has been taken by the govt. to prohibit harassment and discrimination. Basically it’s a safeguard policy for students.
University Grants Commission (UGC), which controls higher education system in India, has asked all affiliated and recognized colleges, universities and institutes to ensure that this DBT scheme is implemented quickly in a “befitting manner”. UGC have been bringing many changes in education system this year.UGC also mandated grades, semester system in country recently. Usually PFMS serves as a common central portal between beneficiaries and registeringimplementing agencies.
The commission has asked the affiliated and recognized institutes to registerthemselves under latest scheme with the Public Financial Management System. Doing so will enable them to analyze the applications made by aspirants and then pay the scholarship amount directly to the students bank accounts as per DBT scheme.
Apart from Direct Benefit Transfer, this year UGC has announced scholarship for 10,000 students titled ” Uday “. Applications which will be uploaded by students on PFMS portal, will be verified by the institutes in online mode which will apply breaks to delays and harassment. Available scholarship schemes and new initiatives of the HRD Ministry must be displayed on website homepage of UGC approved universities as per new orders.
